André Weil (/ v eɪ /; French: [ɑ̃dʁe vɛj]; 6 May – 6 August ) was a French mathematician, known for his foundational work in number theory and algebraic geometry. He was a founding member and the de facto early leader of the mathematical Bourbaki mater: University of Paris, École Normale . The metaplectic group has a particularly significant infinite-dimensional linear representation, the Weil representation. It was used by André Weil to give a representation-theoretic interpretation of theta functions, and is important in the theory of modular forms of half-integral weight and the theta correspondence.

The second part of the book is devoted to the representation theory of reductive algebraic groups and includes topics such as the description of simple modules, vanishing theorems, the Borel-Bott-Weil theorem and Weyl's character formula, and Schubert schemes and line bundles on them. Let Sp V (F) be the group of isometries of a symplectic vector space V over a finite field F of odd cardinality. The group Sp V (F) possesses distinguished representations—the Weil representations. The book features extensive foundational material on the representation theory of GL(1) and GL(2) over local fields, the theory of automorphic representations, L-functions and advanced topics such as the Langlands conjectures, the Weil representation, the Rankin-Selberg method and the triple L-function, and examines this subject matter from many different and complementary by: The Weil representation is a central object of modern harmonic analysis and the theory of the discrete Fourier transform.

It has many applications in automorphic forms, number theory, the theory of theta. and the representation of it so obtained again by ω ψ(g). The group Sp(W) is called the metaplectic group, and the representation ω ψ(g) the Weil or metaplectic representation. In this paper we will often abuse terminology to call the Weil representation of the metaplectic group Sp(W) as simply the Weil representation of the symplectic.

It's titled the Weil, Representation. This is closely related to the splitting principle we analyzed in the last lecture. Let phi be in Jacobi form of weight k with a lattice L, a holomorphic Jacobi form. For G = GU n (q), there is a unique Weil representation, up to equivalence, splitting into q + 1 distinct irreducible constituents. For G = Sp 2 n (q) there are two equivalence classes of Weil representations, each with two distinct irreducible : Gerhard Hiss, Moritz Schröer. of results for Books: Andrew Weil.

Eisenstein series for the Weil representation associated to an even lattice have numerous applications in number theory, for example in the theory of Borcherds products, in the classification of automorphic products of singular weight, and in the study of automorphic Green's functions of Heegner divisors.

Katz, Pham Huu Tiep. The heart of the book is the classical theory developed by Hecke and continued up to the Atkin–Lehner–Li theory of newforms and including the theory of Eisenstein series, Rankin–Selberg theory, and a more general theory of theta series including the Weil representation.

The final chapter explores in some detail more general types of. Chapter 3. The Weil representation of a nite abelian group 69 1. The Heisenberg group 69 2. The Heisenberg group and the discriminant 73 3. The Schr odinger representation 74 4.

Beginning in the s, Rallis and Gérard Schiffmann wrote a series of papers on the Weil representation. This led to Rallis's work with Kudla in which they developed a far-reaching generalization of the Siegel–Weil formula: the regularized Siegel–Weil formula and the first term : Stephen Rallis, 17 MayBennington, Vermont.
