Using repeat cross-section and longitudinal data from the IAB Establishment Panel, we show. Using a unique harmonized matched employer-employee dataset (European Structure of Earnings Survey, ), we study the impact of the regime of collective bargaining on. Remarkably, the core element of labour relations?wage determination?has been excluded from the European social dialogue about harmonisation of working conditions and national systems of social security.

The present study responds by analysing the prospects of building up structures of wage formation in Europe through a reevaluation of collective bargaining and collective agreements as they. A recent comparative study (Van Klaveren et al ) examining minimum wage setting, income inequality and collective bargaining in sixteen Asian and European countries and regions, has also pointed out that export-led growth strategies, if anything, have exacerbated the problems of rising income inequality since they inevitably rely on low pay.
